Today the time has finally come: After the first meeting in July 2016 based on Rolf Beuck's initiative, various working groups have been active in recent months.
I actually only published this article on July 27, 2018, but for the chronological order in the blog I set it to November 16, 2016.
I was mainly active in the administration working group. The aim was to clarify all the formalities surrounding the founding of an association:
- Have we put everything in place to form an association?
- What do we need to do to gain recognition as a non-profit organization?
- How exactly do we accept members? What forms are needed?
- Who takes care of the accounting & taxes and what exactly needs to be done?
- And a lot more!

At the founding meeting on November 16, 2016, I was finally elected to the board. At the first board meeting in conjunction with the meeting, I was appointed finance director. I was of course very pleased with the trust the members placed in me - even though I was respectful of all the new tasks.
The founding of the association was a great thing. With over 20 people we were able to work together statute and Contribution regulations There are a number of expenses associated with the CSD, liability risks arise and considerable sums of money are collected. In addition, it was not possible to foresee how large the first Pride Bremen would become in a long time and what would be involved. The legal construct Association was therefore urgently needed in order to put the cooperation on a solid legal and financial foundation.
At the same time, we wanted to ensure that new people and interested parties felt as welcome as possible. That is why we have scheduled the next general meeting for March 2017. This way, we want to ensure that people who would “only” join in the next few months can also help shape the association.
